This hot-pluggable optical module provides 1 Gbps throughput over distances up to 40 kilometers using duplex LC connectors and standard single-mode fiber, making it ideal for metropolitan area networks, campus backbone links, and long-distance data center interconnects. The EX (Extended) variant operates at 1310nm wavelength and requires inline optical attenuators (-5 dB minimum) for back-to-back connections to prevent receiver overload, ensuring reliable performance in various deployment scenarios.

This remanufactured transceiver has been thoroughly tested and certified to meet Cisco's quality standards. Each unit undergoes comprehensive testing including optical power measurement, bit error rate testing, temperature cycling, wavelength verification, and interoperability validation with Cisco switches and routers. The module features Digital Optical Monitoring (DOM) capabilities for real-time diagnostics of temperature, voltage, laser bias current, transmit power, and receive power.
