The Cisco QSFP-100G-SR1.2 is a 100-Gbps Bi-Directional (BiDi) pluggable optical transceiver designed for short-reach data communication and interconnect applications using multimode fiber (MMF) with duplex LC connectors. Key features and details include: Link Lengths: Supports 70, 100, and 150 meters on laser-optimized OM3, OM4, and OM5 multimode fibers respectively.
Technology: Uses PAM4 modulation with 50Gb channels, aggregating to 100Gbps over two optical lanes.
Wavelength Range: Operates in the 832-918 nm range with two transmit and receive channels.
Compatibility: Enables reuse of existing 10/40 or 100Gb duplex MMF infrastructure for migration to 400 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity.
Breakout Capability: Supports 400 Gbps in a 4 x 100G breakout mode.
Interoperability: Connects with Cisco QSFP-100G-SR1.2 BiDi modules for 100G and can connect to Cisco 400 Gbps SR4.2 BiDi in breakout mode. It does not interoperate with Cisco QSFP-40/100-SRBD.
Power and Operating Conditions: Typical power consumption is about 3.9W, operating temperature range is 10 to 60°C.
Benefits: Lower capital expenditure by reusing duplex LC MMF infrastructure, reduced operational expenditure by seamless upgrade from 10G SR or 40G BiDi to 100G SR1.2 BiDi, future-proofing for 400G connectivity, and reduced transmission errors with KP4 Forward Error Correction (FEC).
This transceiver is ideal for data center environments requiring short-reach 100G connectivity with the flexibility to upgrade to 400G while leveraging existing fiber infrastructure.
